  • Tricia Kirk

    Tricia Kirk

It is with a heavy heart that we are to announce the sudden passing of Tricia Kirk on Monday 8 December 2014 at Ninewells Hospital.

Surrounded by her family, Tricia passed away whilst in hospital after a period of being unwell.

Tricia, an experienced bowler within Dundee City Disability Sport programme, had been involved in bowls for approximately 10 years after having her lower leg amputated.

This was the time when she met her good friend Marion McIntosh, who introduced her to the sport of bowling.

Anyone who knows Tricia and Marion could tell you about this friendship but also about the “rivalry” that they had on the Field of Play.

Tricia took to bowls very quickly and was soon taking part in the local weekly programmes and then on to Local, Regional and National competitions.

The highlight of her bowling career was representing Scotland in 2007 at the IBD World Bowling Championships in Australia.

Tricia was a prolific bowler in carpet bowls, competing in 9 straight finals and winning 5 Scottish titles in the process, her last title being achieved in 2014.

Tricia also held the Scottish Lawn Bowls title at the same time as her carpet bowls title in 2013.

This is a testament to her competitive spirit.

Tricia will be sadly missed by her fellow bowlers, athletes and friends.

Our condolences and thoughts are with Tricia’s family at this time.
