Dundee representation at IBD World Championships
The Scottish Team for the IBD World Championships to be held in Sydney Australia between 15th and 27 October has recently been announced.
Trisha Kirk & Darren Thomson have been selected to be part of the Scottish
Team.
Trisha, (pictured above) is a wheelchair user, and a regular member
of the training sessions held at both Lynch and Douglas Sports Centres.
She is a regular competitor at the Tayside Lawn and Carpet Bowls Championships
and has represented Dundee at the National events. In 2006 & 2007 she
was crowned Scottish Carpet Bowls Champion. Her selection is a culmination
of her hard word and determination in her sport of bowls.
Darren Thomson, Disability Sports Officer, Leisure & Communities has also been selected as a support member of staff. Darren coaches all Carpet and Lawns Bowls session. Darren is delighted that one of his players has been selected, but even more so that he will be able to support Trisha in the build up and during the World Championships in Sydney Australia.
Scotland won the bowls team gold medal in Manchester at the Commonwealth Games and when the sport is reinstated to the Games of 2014 hopes are high of a repeat performance. The World Championships are the second stage in the preparation of the Scottish Team for that special occasion.
The managements committee of Dundee City Disability Sport congratulate and wish both Trisha and Darren all the best in their upcoming selection.
