Once again over 300 competitors travelled from all parts of Scotland to compete in the six sports on offer. The Powerlifters travelling from Scotland, England and Wales to use the games as a training session prior to heading of to Shanghi, China for the Special Olympics World Games in October.
In the swimming pool we had three Special Olympians also heading of to China, Andrew Gray, David Fergus and Zoe Kane. Dundee City Disability Sport wishes all Special Olympians success at the World Games.
It was particularly pleasing to see the return of Table Tennis back into the games after an absence of 4/5 years, The venue was superb and from the discussions I had with the players and coaches at the event was very favourable and keen to see the event in next years Discovery Games.
Overall the weekend was a great success and well done to all competitors, Care Staff, Volunteers and officials. Without whom we would not be able to stage such a big event.
The Events are organised by sports specific coordinators and a special thanks to them for providing a quality event again in Dundee.
Thanks to Leisure and Communities Department Staff for the support before, during and after the event. Thanks to our local Elected Members who attend the events, and presented medals to the winning participants.
